About

Minty Sainsbury is an artist living and working in London. She is best known for her highly detailed and instantly recognisable stylised architectural pencil drawings.

Minty has arranged and curated five successful solo exhibitions. One in Glasgow in The Mackintosh Church in partnership with the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society. As well as four solo exhibitions in Central London.

Alongside solo shows Minty has exhibited in group exhibitions across the UK, Paris, and New York. She has exhibited with The Society of Graphic Fine Art, The Pastel Society, and The Contemporary Young Artist Award. 

Her pencil stub artwork ‘Practise’ was exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in London in 2024.

Minty has won or shortlisted for various awards and competitions: the first Hermès international scarf design competition, The Architecture Drawing Prize, the Traditional Architecture Group measured drawing award, the RIBA Journal’s Eye Line drawing competition, The Pastel Society award, and the Parker Prize.

Minty works together with art consultants and interior designers on larger scale projects and also on smaller bespoke commissions for individuals. Her pictures have been avidly collected and commissioned by private art collectors from all over the world from Berlin to Miami, from Beijing to New York. Her work is displayed in distinguished settings such as Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland. She was recently commissioned to design a drawing for a Portuguese wine label.

Minty has currently paused her commissioned work to focus on a series of artworks inspired from an artist residency she did in India in 2024 with the Prakriti Foundation.

Minty has an ever growing following on social media with more than 200,000 followers across her platforms. In addition to the exposure from social media Minty has been featured in publications such as The Times, Hermès and Wallpaper* magazine. She has collaborated on Instagram with Airbnb, Microsoft, Faber-Castell, and Winsor & Newton among others. 

Minty studied Architecture at the University of Cambridge where she was a scholar at Emmanuel College. She graduated with a first class degree, achieved the top marks in her year, and won a RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) student award. She then went on to work for a year at the architecture firm Carmody Groarke in London before pursuing a full time career as an artist.
