In my Facade drawings I take the building out of its context, putting it in isolation in the centre of the page. My intention is to make the viewer look differently at the urban landscape around them. I take one building at a time and focus on the detail with the hope of showing people the incredible beauty in each individual facade surrounding them in their cities.
This style of artwork developed out of my time study architecture at university. Using a drawing board and set square I practised drawing architectural plans, sections, and elevations of building to scale. After the first term at university most other students put away their drawing boards and started making architectural drawings on the computer. However I loved this style of drawing elevations and continue to drawing with this method to this day.
